2 Corinthians 9:6–7
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

Paul is speaking about a financial offering. Let’s not avoid that. Real needs. Real generosity. Real sacrifice.

But instead of manipulating emotions, he reveals a principle.

Sowing and reaping.

Just as there are natural laws in the physical world, there are spiritual laws in the kingdom of God. You may not understand how gravity works, but if you step off a building, you will experience it. Denying it does not diminish it. Ignoring it does not suspend it.

In the same way, if you sow sparingly, you reap sparingly. If you sow generously, you reap generously. That is not prosperity rhetoric. It is divine design.

Now we must be clear. This is not about earning grace. Grace is unmerited favor. You do not give to become loved. You do not sow to secure salvation. That is settled at the cross.

But within a relationship already secured by grace, God has established order. Seeds produce after their kind.

Financial giving in this passage becomes the clearest illustration because money touches security. It reveals trust. That is why in Malachi 3:10 the Lord says,
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse… and prove me now herewith… if I will not open you the windows of heaven…”

In every other area, we are warned not to test God. Yet here He invites it. Why? Because generosity exposes whether we believe He is truly our source.

And the principle does not stop at finances.

Give Him your fear, and you reap peace.
Give Him your weakness, and you reap strength.
Give Him your future, and you reap security.

Not because you earned those things.
But because surrender places the seed in soil where God’s faithfulness brings increase.

A seed held back remains a seed.
A seed released becomes a harvest.

The issue is not pressure.
The issue is trust.

He which sows bountifully shall reap bountifully.

The law works.

The only question is whether we will plant.
