Philippians 4:9
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do…
Paul had the courage to say, Watch me.
That is rare.
It is one thing to teach truth. It is another to live it in front of people long enough for them to test it.
The Philippians had learned from Paul. They had received instruction from him. They had heard him speak. But they had also seen him suffer, rejoice, forgive, labor, pray.
His ministry was not theory. It was embodiment.
It was show and tell.
He did not say, Do what I say and ignore how I live.
He said, Do what you have seen in me.
That is sobering.
If someone followed you for a week, would they see what you claim to believe?
Paul rejoiced in prison. He prayed at midnight. He refused bitterness. He thought on what was true and pure. And now he says, Put it into practice.
Truth is not meant to be admired. It is meant to be applied.
Faith is like a blueprint. You can admire the design, frame it, even teach a class on it. But until you build with it, it remains unfinished.
Paul is saying, Build it.
Do what you have seen.
And then comes the promise.
…and the God of peace shall be with you.
Notice the progression.
Earlier he spoke of the peace of God guarding hearts and minds.
Now he speaks of the God of peace Himself being with them.
Peace is not merely a feeling. It is a Person present.
If you think rightly.
If you rejoice steadily.
If you dwell on what is pure and lovely.
If you practice what you have learned.
You do not merely receive a result.
You enjoy a relationship.
The God of peace will be with you just as surely as He was with Paul in prison cells and public squares.
Peace is not imported from circumstances.
It is experienced through obedience.
Learn it.
See it.
Do it.
And you will not walk alone.
