The Real Thing — 2 Thessalonians 3:16–18

2 Thessalonians 3:16–18

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

After everything Paul has said, he does not end with instruction.

He ends with blessing.

The Lord of peace himself. Not peace as an idea. Not peace as a goal. The Lord of it.

He prays that peace would follow them in every direction, in every circumstance. Then he slows down and signs the letter himself. You can almost see the shift in handwriting. This is me. This is real. Not forged. Not rumor.

And then grace.

He began with grace in chapter one. He ends with grace here. It frames the whole letter like bookends.

Correction was needed. Boundaries were necessary. But grace has the final word.

That is not softness. That is strength under control.

Truth secures the structure. Grace keeps it livable.

And that is how Paul leaves them.

Not anxious.
Not defensive.
Just covered in peace and grace.
