Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
There’s a steadying truth in this verse: God does not forget.
Notice what the verse highlights. It speaks of work and labour of love. The emphasis is not simply on activity but on the heart behind it. Service done out of love for the Lord naturally overflows into care for His people.
That’s why Scripture says plainly:
James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
True faith doesn’t remain idle. It moves. It expresses itself. It becomes visible in the way a person serves and cares for others.
It’s not faith and works as though they compete with one another. And it’s not faith or works as though one cancels the other out.
It’s faith that works.
Because love always moves a person to action.
Think about someone who is deeply in love. They do things they would never have done otherwise. They go out of their way. They sacrifice time and energy. Love changes what a person is willing to do.
Faith works the same way. When the heart truly trusts and loves the Lord, serving others becomes a natural result.
But here is the encouraging part of Hebrews 6:10: God remembers what people forget.
Many acts of kindness fade from memory. A quiet prayer. A small gift. A word of encouragement. A simple act of service. Years later even the person who did it may not remember it.
But God does.
He sees the labour. He sees the love. And He is not unrighteous to forget it.
Jesus explained the opposite situation when He spoke about people who made a show of their spirituality:
Matthew 6:5
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Those who seek recognition receive it—but that recognition is the full reward.
But quiet service is different.
When kindness is done without attention… when generosity is given quietly… when ministry happens without applause—those are the things heaven remembers.
Think about that.
The smallest unseen act done out of love for the Lord may be remembered forever.
Because God never forgets a labour of love.
