Revelation 19:1-2
And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
Chapter 19 opens after Babylon falls. The smoke of her ruin is still in view, but heaven is not wringing its hands. Heaven is singing. Earth wailed when Babylon went down because earth loved what Babylon provided. Heaven rejoices because heaven sees what Babylon really was. She corrupted the earth. She shed the blood of the servants of God. She glittered on the outside, but underneath there was rot, seduction, and death.
That is why the cry in heaven is Alleluia. Salvation, glory, honor, and power belong to the Lord our God. Not to Babylon. Not to commerce. Not to kings. Not to markets. Not to the machinery of man. Heaven gives all of it back to God, because once the full picture is seen, nobody wonders whether His judgments were too severe. They say they were true and righteous.
That catches me, because down here we question so much. Lord, why this pain. Why this delay. Why this sorrow. Why not do it differently. Why not make it easier. Why not explain more. But heaven says when the curtain is finally pulled back, the saints will not discover that God was careless. They will discover He was right.
Think about that.
The things that trouble us now will look different then. The roads that felt unnecessary. The losses that felt too sharp. The judgments that seemed too heavy. Seen from heaven, they will not look random. They will look righteous. Not because heaven has less compassion, but because heaven has full clarity.
The world keeps offering substitutes for salvation. Positive thinking. Human effort. Better systems. Better slogans. A brighter tomorrow if we just work a little harder. But none of that can save a soul. None of that can wash away guilt. None of that can stop the tribulation in a human heart. Only salvation can do that, and salvation belongs to the Lord.
So really the question is not small at all. Would you rather have dinner or be dinner. Revelation 19 sets two scenes before us. One is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Joy. Welcome. Celebration. The other is judgment at Armageddon. One table is glorious. The other is dreadful. And every man will be at one or the other.
That sounds sharp, but it is mercy to say it plainly. God is not being cruel by warning people. He is being kind. He is telling men now where the road ends. He is telling them there is still room at the right table.
And for the believer, there is comfort here too. The Lord does not show us the whole story now because He is teaching us to walk by faith. We want sight. He is forming trust. We want immediate answers. He is building something deeper. One day faith will give way to sight, and when it does, we will not say, Lord, You missed it. We will say, Lord, You were right all along.
Beloved, stay with Jesus. Trust Him when you do not understand. Trust Him when Babylon looks strong. Trust Him when earth is wailing and heaven seems quiet. The day is coming when heaven will speak, and when it does, every question about His righteousness will be settled forever.
