Genesis 31:13–16
I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred. And Rachel and Leah answered and said, Is there yet any portion of inheritance for us in our father’s house? Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money. For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children’s: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.
There is one more confirmation Jacob receives here, and it is an important one. The plan set before him was seconded.
The Lord had already spoken. The circumstances around him had already changed. But now Rachel and Leah speak up too, and they are completely with him. They had lived under Laban’s manipulation just as Jacob had. They knew exactly how their father had treated them, and they could see plainly that it was time to go.
That matters, because often the Lord will confirm His direction through the people closest to us. Not every opinion carries the same weight, of course, but there is real wisdom in godly confirmation. Sometimes the Lord makes His way clear not only in your own heart, but also through those who know the situation well and can see what God is doing. That is why Proverbs 11:14 says there is safety in a multitude of counselors.
So Jacob is not moving on a whim here. He is moving with the Word of the Lord before him, with the situation around him making it clear, and now with his family standing beside him saying, Do what God told you to do. That is a strong place to be.
