Exodus 8:7
And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.
Once again, Pharaoh’s magicians were able to imitate what had happened. Just as they did when the water was turned to blood, so here they also brought up frogs upon the land. But the important thing is not that they could duplicate the problem. The important thing is that they could not remove it.
That says a great deal about the nature of dark power. It can imitate. It can counterfeit. It can add to confusion. But it cannot heal what is broken. It cannot cleanse what is defiled. It cannot lift the burden it helps create. All it can do is make the situation worse.
That is exactly what happened here. Egypt was already overrun with frogs, and the magicians only added more. The land was already miserable, and they multiplied the misery. They had no answer, no remedy, no true power to restore. Their so called miracle only deepened the plague.
That is always the way with the enemy. He may impress people for a moment. He may produce enough imitation to make the undiscerning pause. But he never brings peace. He never makes a life cleaner, freer, or whole. He only adds frogs to a land already covered in them.
There is a lesson in that. Sin and darkness never solve the problem they promise to fix. They only spread it farther. The flesh says, “This will help.” The world says, “This will satisfy.” The enemy says, “This will work.” But all they really do is increase the clutter, deepen the bondage, and multiply the mess.
So when the magicians brought up frogs, they exposed their own emptiness. They could copy the trouble, but they could not cure it. And that remains true in every age. Anything apart from the Lord may be able to imitate power, but only God can bring deliverance.
