Stand in His Strength – Ephesians 6:10

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Paul does not end softly. He does not say, “Try harder.” He does not say, “Understand yourself better.” He says, Be strong.

Not strong in personality.
Not strong in temperament.
Not strong in self awareness.

Strong in the Lord.

There is a difference between self examination and self absorption. One leads to repentance. The other leads to paralysis. A generation can become so focused on how it feels that it forgets what it is called to do.

When Moses died, leadership passed to Joshua. Before the people ever crossed into the land of promise, before they tasted grapes the size of clusters, before they saw milk and honey, they saw giants. Real enemies. Real battles.

Three times in Joshua 1:6, 7, 9, the Lord told him:

Be strong and of a good courage

Joshua was not told to analyze his fears. He was told to move forward in faith. Nearly three million people were watching him. If he collapsed inward, the nation would stall outward.

Strength in the Lord is not loud bravado. It is quiet dependence. It is the decision to step into obedience even when you feel inadequate.

Picture a soldier standing beneath a massive waterfall. The water crashes down with unstoppable force. The soldier does not generate that power. He simply stands under it. The strength comes from above.

That is what Paul means. Be strengthened in the Lord. Stand under His might. Let His power fall upon you.

When we center our lives on how we are treated, how we are feeling, how we are perceived, we shrink. But when we center our lives on Christ, we stand.

God never commands what He does not supply. If He says, “Be strong,” it means His strength is available. Not stored in your emotions. Not found in your personality. But supplied through faith and obedience.

Giants still stand in the land. Families depend on fathers. Churches depend on leaders. Children depend on parents. Saints depend on one another.

So Paul says, Finally.

After doctrine.
After instruction.
After exhortation.

Stand.

Be strong in the Lord.
