Made By Him, Made For Him – Colossians 1:16

Colossians 1:16

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

This is the secret of life.

Jesus is not part of creation. He is the Creator of it. Everything we see. Everything we cannot see. Authority structures. Angelic realms. Physical matter. Breath in your lungs.

Created by Him.

Created for Him.

We sing, “This is the day the Lord hath made.” That is not poetry alone. It is purpose. This day was not made primarily for my comfort, my advancement, or my applause. It was made for Him. And the only way this day works correctly is when I live it in alignment with the One who designed it.

When something is used outside its design, it breaks.

Imagine driving your Montero up a mountain because you want to see the valley from above. You press the accelerator, aim toward the edge, and convince yourself that momentum will turn your SUV into an aircraft. For a moment you feel powerful. Then gravity reminds you of reality.

The crash is not because the vehicle is bad.

It is because it was never built to fly.

So it is with us. We say, “I will soar. I will live for myself. I will define my own meaning.” For a season, it feels thrilling. Independent. Elevated. But the human soul was not engineered for self worship. It was formed to reflect glory upward, not inward.

The text says all things were created by Him and for Him.

That includes you.

The frustration people feel is often not mystery. It is misalignment. When a violin is tuned to itself instead of to concert pitch, it produces noise. When it is tuned to the master reference, it produces beauty.

You were not made to be the reference point.

You were made to resonate with Christ.

He is called the Firstborn, the Preeminent One. Not first in time, but first in rank. Supreme over every throne and dominion named in heaven or earth. If He is central to the universe, He must be central to me.

Life becomes clear when ownership is settled.

If I belong to Him, then my ambitions, my time, my gifts, even my suffering, fall into place. I stop trying to fly like a machine that was built for the road. I begin to move in the way I was designed to move.

And suddenly the day works.

Not because it is easy.

But because it is aligned.

When you live for the One who made you, you are finally living according to design.

And design always beats delusion.
