Saturated Hearts – Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

The Word is not meant to skim the surface of your life. It is meant to soak it.

Let it dwell.

Let it settle deep. Let it shape how you think before you speak, how you decide before you act. When the Word of Christ lives richly inside you, it becomes the lens through which everything else is evaluated.

Peace has its place. Feelings have their place. But neither outranks Scripture.

If someone claims calm while stepping outside of what God has clearly revealed, the answer is not sympathy for their serenity. It is clarity from the Word. God does not guide you in contradiction to what He has already spoken.

Ships may be available. Circumstances may align. Emotions may feel steady. But if the direction violates Scripture, the calm will not last.

The Word is the authority.

When it dwells richly, it produces wisdom. It also produces community. We teach one another. We correct one another. Not harshly, but graciously. Truth spoken among believers protects, strengthens, and stabilizes.

And then something beautiful happens.

Song.

Truth moves from the mind into melody. Psalms, hymns, spiritual songs rise from hearts that are full. Not mechanical recitation, but grace flowing upward to the Lord.

A heart saturated in Scripture will not remain silent long.

It will speak wisely.

It will correct gently.

It will sing sincerely.

Let the Word live there.

Not thinly.

Richly.
