1 Timothy 2:7
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
Paul almost sounds defensive for a moment.
“I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not.”
Why say that unless some were questioning him?
He is not trying to build his brand. He is reminding Timothy that his calling was not self appointed. He did not wake up one morning and decide to reinvent himself as a preacher. He was ordained. Sent. Commissioned.
A preacher.
An apostle.
A teacher.
Different words, but one heartbeat. He was called to speak truth about Christ to people who had never heard it.
And not just speak it loudly.
Teach it in faith and verity. Faithfulness. Truthfulness. Substance.
There is something steady about that. Not flashy. Not dramatic. Just faithful.
Paul knew who he was because he knew who had sent him.
And here is where this lands close to home.
Not everyone is an apostle in the way Paul was. Not everyone stands before crowds. But every believer is sent into some circle. A family. A workplace. A neighborhood. A group of friends.
You may not have a title. But you have a calling.
To pray for people.
To speak truth when the moment opens.
To live in a way that makes Christ visible.
Paul did not apologize for his assignment. He embraced it. Even when it cost him.
The same Lord who set Paul apart has placed you where you are.
You are not there accidentally.
The question is not whether you are ordained as an apostle.
The question is whether you are willing to speak truth in the places you already stand.
