Genesis 10:7
And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.
Now the family line narrows again through Cush and then through Raamah to Sheba and Dedan. These names are tied to the area of present day Saudi Arabia, and they will show up again later in Scripture.
That is what makes a chapter like this so helpful. These are not random names buried in a genealogy. They are markers. They are place setters. They are early signposts in the biblical story. And when names like Sheba and Dedan show up later, especially in passages like Ezekiel 38 and 39, we are meant to recognize them and realize the Lord had these nations on the page from the very beginning.
Genesis keeps reminding us that history is not drifting. The nations are not developing apart from the knowledge of God. He knows their beginnings, their boundaries, and their place in the larger story.
So even a verse like this tells us something steadying. The God who sees the end is the God who named the lines at the start.
