Go to Jesus, the Greater than Joseph – Genesis 41:55

Genesis 41:55

And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

When the famine got real, the people cried out.

That is usually when people start looking for answers. As long as life feels manageable, folks think they are doing fine. But when the pantry gets empty, when the heart gets desperate, when the soul starts to feel its need, the cry finally goes up.

In Egypt, they cried to Pharaoh first.

That is how people are. We tend to run to the wrong place before we run to the right One. In the Tribulation, men will do the same thing. They will look to antichrist, hoping he can fix what only Christ can fix. He will not point them to Jesus. He will not send them to the Savior. He will only deepen the deception.

But Pharaoh says something here that is far bigger than he knows.

Go unto Joseph.

And for us, the message is plain.

Go unto Jesus, our greater than Joseph.

Joseph was the picture. Jesus is the fulfillment.

Joseph had bread for a hungry nation. Jesus is the Bread of Life for a hungry world. Joseph could keep men alive through famine. Jesus gives life that never ends. Joseph could meet a physical need. Jesus reaches all the way down into the deepest need of the human heart.

So when you are empty, go to Jesus.

When you are burdened, go to Jesus.

When sin has made a wreck of things, go to Jesus.

When you do not know what to do next, go to Jesus.

Our greater than Joseph is still the answer.

Then Pharaoh says one more thing:

What he saith to you, do.

That sounds a lot like Mary at Cana.

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do.
John 2:5

That is still the word.

Go to Jesus.
Then do what He says.

It is really that simple. We make it far more complicated than it needs to be. We want another option. We want a backup plan. We want a way around obedience. But the answer is not merely hearing His voice. The answer is obeying it.

Go to Jesus, the greater than Joseph.

And whatever He says to you, do.

That is where peace is found.
That is where help is found.
That is where provision is found.

Beloved, heaven still says the same thing to a starving world.

Go to Jesus.
